Organism
An organism is a complete living being that can carry out all life processes on its own.
- It is made when all organ systems work together as one unit—so the whole body can function properly.
- An organism can do the basic jobs of life: take in nutrients, respire (release energy), grow, respond to surroundings, remove wastes, and reproduce.
- One organism can be unicellular (made of one cell, like Amoeba) or multicellular (made of many cells, like humans and plants).
- Think of it like a team: each organ system is a group with a special role (digestive, respiratory, circulatory, etc.), and the organism is the entire team working together to keep life going.
- Even though an organism has many parts, it behaves as one living individual—for example, you feel thirsty, your brain decides to drink water, and several systems coordinate to make that happen.
